Here's another video showing you how those new ND or CPL filters will work when in use with point and shoot cameras. Keep in mind that i'm still working with prototype versions, so end quality in design and glass will be much better. The ring i've attached to the Sony RX100 was originally designed for the smaller lens of the HX20V, but I was was able to use the filters without obstructing the widest focal length of the RX100. As soon as they become available, i'll let you know who you can purchase these from. For updates, please follow me on Twitter.

The RX100 so far has been a better replacement over many of the other cameras i've been using including the Canon S100, HX9V, or HX20V. Check out the RX100 over (click here).

A Step Ladder and Hand Truck are two pieces of gear that we commonly have handy when carting around to a location. Well, here's a handy quick tip from HDSLRNOW.com regarding a combo step ladder / hand truck unit. The one featured in the video is the more affordable $65 dollar version, but there are other more expensive LadderKarts following the link via Amazon (click here).

Canon EOS-M Mirroless Camera

Canon has officially announces the latest Canon EOS-M Mirrorless camera. It will be available in a variety of colored bodies and uses a new EF-M lens mount. The first EF-M lens to be released will be a 22mm F/2 STM lens, but there will be an adapter to mount EF and EF-S lenses.

It's been leaked out for several days now, and although it's exciting to see Canon in this space, they are also pretty late to the party. Given that they have consistently been disabling certain features in their cameras, I can't say i'm overly excited either. I'll just be watching on the side to see what others will have to say. Still, if you're interested in knowing more about Canon's latest EOS-M camera, you can find it at the product page via B&H (Click Here)

Matt writes in and shares a YouTube video comparison between two Switronix LED lights [Thanks Matt]. One is of the original TL-50 put up gainst their latest TorchLED Bolt. The TL-50 is not a shabby light, so you should take this as a good reference of how much brighter the BOLT LED video light would be to other common On-Camera LED lights.

Switronix states that the new BOLT 16-LED light is powerful enough to use as a fill light outdoors and features a brightness and throw (40-50') that puts it in the range of halogen lights. The Bolt is powered by Sony L-Series Batteries, or Powertap DC input, and the Bi-Color bulbs can adjust color temperature from 3000K-6000K or a mix of in between.

Sony HX20V ND Filter

Filters can play a fairly important part when capturing photos or videos. For instance, a CPL filter can 'correct' colors, saturation, and contrast to the image before it reaches the sensor. Bringing back washed out skies, saturating bright blue oceans, or removing glares from foliage. This information is normally lost during image capture, and cannot be recovered in post editing, because the data just isn't there.

So what about all the new high end point and shoot cameras? What's the solution to adding ND filters, Variable ND filters, or CPL filters? Even with Manual video controls on the new Sony RX100, without a solid ND filter, you can't maintain your optimal shutter speed for that Cinematic look.

Well I've only teased a few times about a new product ready to hit the market very soon, but today I'm able to share a few teaser images. So far ND and CPL filters are ready for the Sony HX9V, Sony HX20V, Canon S100, and other popular high end point and shoot cameras (including RX100).

A very thin metal ring fits flush against the compact camera's front barrel. The super strong magnetic filter quickly attaches and detaches, and can even remain on when the camera is powered off with the lens fully retracted back into the camera body. That's all the information i'll share today, but i've provided a few images that will hopefully get you excited. I'm going to attach this to the Sony RX100 today. Want more information about this? RX100 Sony Manual Video Controls

I just received the Sony RX100 in the mail. As far as compact pocketable cameras go, this is the one to get, especially with a sensor almost twice as large as it's competitors, and knowing it has full manual controls in video mode. Results on the web have already proved the camera's capabilities obtaining amazing quality in both still images and in video. While Amazon still has not received inventory, I just got notification that B&H should be shipping Sony RX100 orders today if you're interested in this amazing little camera. Check it out (click here).

Thinking about shooting with your GH2 camera longer than usual? Unfortunately Panasonic doesn't offer an OEM version battery grip to run dual batteries, but this GH2 External Battery Kit could help you out.

Christian writes in with positive news that this single battery lasted longer in a recent shoot, than several internal batteries from a previous shoot [Thanks Christian]. The kit comes with an 8500mAh rechargeable battery, GH2 Dummy battery, and necessary cables with DC 12V 6500mA, DC 9V 8500mA, and DC 5V 15000mA to power both the Panasonic GH2 camera, and 2/3" zoom professional video lenses.
