15mm rails, clamps, and handles can be found just about anywhere. For cheap dslr rig shoulder pads, there's not a huge variety yet. Here's a Dual Purpose shoulder pad that can be used on a set of 15mm rails to throw your rig over the shoulder, or for smaller Target Shooter style setups the pad can be repositioned into more of a Gun Stock.

It's been several weeks, but the new P&C GearBox is now available at PhotographyandCinema.com. The name 'GearBox' was submitted by David during a June contest, so congrats David, PhotographyandCinema.com will be sending one of these GearBox cages your way.

There are many High End, Super Heavy, Robust video cages available for the Professional market, but we found a lack of more affordable options for smaller style video cameras such as the Sony NEX-7 or Popular GH2. The P&C GearBox is designed to be simple, lightweight, modular, and of course - affordable.

The GearBox has a solid metal bottom and top bracket with several 1/4-20 mounting options for your accessories such as an LED video light, Portable Recorder, HDMI LCD Monitor, Microphone, Wireless Receivers, etc. To take up minimal space in a bag when packing up or traveling, the GearBox can easily be disassembled with a single Hex driver.

The GearBox will support a quick release plate underneath if you want to mount the rig onto a Tripod. Extension adapters are provided to support taller cameras, or if you want to add a quick release system into the cage unit allowing you easy removal of your camera body. The rubber coated side handles provide a non-slip comfortable grip and are spaced further apart to add stability for hand-held shooting styles. Interested in a Rail System? Soon to be released is the 15mm Rod adapter (sneak peek here).

As a new item, there is an Introductory Price of just $79.99 over at https://PhotographyandCinema.com (Click Here).

Ray T writes in and shares this updated version of the Canon 5D Mark II anti-twist plate [Thanks Ray]. This time, the new plate supports pin location for both the Canon 5D Mark II and even Canon's latest 5D Mark III. Anti-twist plates are important for those who don't want their cameras to shift when using items such as a Follow Focus system. The little pins fit into the alignment hole under the camera body. The plate then offers multiple threaded holes to secure your QR plates with two bolts (instead of one).

This Anti-Twist Plate now works as an HDMI cable protector with a 6 cable pinch that attaches to the side of the baseplate. If you haven't dealt with HDMI cables much, they consistently come loose of get yanked out of the camera body. At times, this cable can even cause some damage to the camera's internal HDMI port (an expensive fix). HDMI locks prevent cable shifting once it's connected to the cameras HDMI input. A cable lock like this will also save you from having to buy new HDMI cables from the constant damage.

From what I can tell, if you don't use the alignment pins, this baseplate might mount to other cameras as an HDMI lock. It also brags about how it can connect up to 6 cables at a time unlike other cable lock solutions. 6 simultaneous cable locks appears to be overkill because I doubt you'll be connecting your USB/AV port at the same time you connect your HDMI port, and also have a PC sync cord for flash photography. At most I think three locks would have been suffice - a shutter cable (5D3 starts video now), Microphone cable, and HDMI.

It is what it is, and though it will run you just under $50 bucks, it's priced cheaper than some other HDMI lock solutions and still doubles as a solid anti-twist plate. Check out the updated HDMI protector / Anti-Twist Plate over at CoolLCD (Click Here).

More variations of DSLR Rigs are showing up. These new style DSLR Rigs not only sport the blue accents of popular RedRock Micro rigs, but you can tell they try to mimic the texture of the RedRock Micro Hand Grips (as seen here) and very close design of the RedRock Micro Body Brace (seen here).

Nice to see more Body / Chest brace type stabilizers becoming available instead of full on over the shoulder types. Configurations of these new rigs are available with either one handle or two. Check out more of the photos over at eBay (Click Here).

We had a brief look at the Focus One Pro at NAB 2012, but there were some slight changes since then. For those who have been following the product, here's an inside look from YouTube member lkwan78 as he shares his thoughts on the latest Follow Focus from Edelkrone [Thanks Luke]. For reference, the other Follow Focus systems mentioned in this video are from a company called TrusMT (seen here) and the new Gini iFocus (seen here).

The new Focus One Pro FF runs for about $290 bucks and can be found at the Edelkrone website (Click Here).

PNC-Cage-Rig

We've had great success reaching out to the community for some suggested names with our last product launch - The Komodo Dolly. If you haven't seen the Dolly, you can check it out along with a current contest (ends June 30th) to win one of 16 prizes here: http://cheesycam.com/new-pc-komodo-skater-table-dolly-contest-to-win/.

This time we have another product soon to be released that will be available at PhotographyandCinema.com. This will be our basic and very affordable video accessory cage, designed to hold your camera and provide several new mounting points to add accessories like an LED light, LCD monitor, Audio Recorders, and more. It's slightly wider than most camera bodies so that you can shoot handheld (Spacing your hands away from the camera adds stability).

For handles, we're using something similar to our custom P&C Pistol Grip Molds. Right now it looks low in the photo (above), which would be perfect for GH2, Sony NEX type cameras, and even a full Canon DSLR. If you want to add a quick release baseplate inside, there's small adapters that you can add to adjust the height.

So we're on the home stretch with one of our Basic Video Accessory Cages, and we need another name. Soon after the name pick, we can finish the final manufacturing and have these available to ship in the next few weeks. So,here's another small and simple contest, and to the winner we'll be giving away one of these cages if we choose your suggested name pick. All you have to do is leave a comment with what you think we should call this. I'm hoping to have a name chosen and comments will be closed by the end of the weekend. Thanks guys!

[Update] Comments Closed. We'll be choosing a Winning Name soon. Thanks for the participation.

Sony Battery Tray Rig DSLR VideoCatClaw Sony DSLR Rig Battery Power Adapter Canon
find-price-button Sony NPF-970 Battery Power Supply 5V, 7V, 12V

Thanks to a tweet from m0fe, he points out this alternative Sony Battery tray for powering up your DSLR rig with Sony NPF style batteries [Thanks m0fe]. They have a V-Mount power supply similar to this, but even cheap V-mount batteries are just out of most budgets. This tray accepts two Sony NPF970 Batteries (seen here) (but you can also use little NPF-550s) to power up fairly standard DSLR rig accessories.

The pack offers an output of 5V (for Zoom H4n), a 7V output (for powering Canon cameras), and a 12V output (for powering LCD monitors), and then clamps to a standard set of 15mm rails. The kit comes with all the necessary cables and even comes with a Canon LP-E6 dummy battery to start shooting. If you're an event shooter that needs to be fed constant power, this is one of the most affordable off the shelf solutions to power up your rig. Check it out via eBay (Click Here).
