We've had great success reaching out to the community for some suggested names with our last product launch - The Komodo Dolly. This time we have another product soon to be released that will be available at PhotographyandCinema.com. This will be our basic and very affordable video accessory cage, designed to hold your camera and provide several new mounting points to add accessories like an LED light, LCD monitor, Audio Recorders, and more. It's slightly wider than most camera bodies so that you can shoot handheld (Spacing your hands away from the camera adds stability).

For handles, we're using something similar to our custom P&C Pistol Grip Molds. Right now it looks low in the photo (above), which would be perfect for GH2, Sony NEX type cameras, and even a full Canon DSLR. If you want to add a quick release baseplate inside, there's small adapters that you can add to adjust the height.

So we're on the home stretch with one of our Basic Video Accessory Cages, and we need another name. Soon after the name pick, we can finish the final manufacturing and have these available to ship in the next few weeks. So,here's another small and simple contest, and to the winner we'll be giving away one of these cages if we choose your suggested name pick. All you have to do is leave a comment with what you think we should call this. I'm hoping to have a name chosen and comments will be closed by the end of the weekend. Thanks guys!

    When I think about it, The way you hold it with your hands makes me think of it being really safe and secure. like armor around your camera.

    Well I don't think anyone mentioned it yet, but this design looks a lot like an aircraft steering mechanism, which are called "Yokes". Do a google image search on "aircraft yoke" and you'll see what I mean. So that's my suggestion:

    The Yoke
    or
    The Yoke Cage

    I think it sounds kinda exotic to anyone not familiar with aeronautics (I'm not a pilot, but my best friend is training to be one ^_^) so it would stand out in the overly crowded market, much the same way the Komodo name does.

    One thing bugging me though, you said this would fit a GH2 (which is my cam of choice) now it may be just me but is there enough room here for a HDMI? what about flipping the LCD out? -is it designed so that from a birdseye perspective, the handles are actually a bit forward from the cheeseplates? -Just curious 😉

    My favourite name someone else came up with? -THE NICOLAS CAGE 😀 😀 😀 on a more serious note, I like the "Akimbo Cage". That's badass.

    I would call it Bob and I would feed it the remains of other cages.

    Hopefully it will work with both a quick release AND a grip. It's so much easier to load batteries on the side rather than removing the camera, taking off the quick plate, etc...

    Nobody ever seems to think about sizing stuff to include a grip.

    I've always felt that the word "cage" sorts of implies that you're confining something and a rig like that really is bringing out more of its potential so I prefer to see it as more of an "armor" sort of. (:

    So i'd call it the P&C Armor Rig

    or the P&C Aegis

    Or simply just Aegis (The).

    My name suggestion is The Chameleon Cage or just Chameleon. It's adaptive, changing and is in the same "family" as the Komodo! Please also consider "Chamaeleo" which a species of Cameleon that ends with "O".
