Just a few months ago, choosing a DSLR rig was limited to a few options. I've been trying to follow the different cheaper solutions available, and it seems like it's growing each week. Check out the complete line of DSLR's available on eBay.. The most popular overseas items would be the ones coming from Hong Kong and Korea. The Hong Kong rigs are still just Lego squared looking with some offensive color schemes. The Korean rigs known around the web as 'Gini Rigs', actually go by the name G-Cinema, have really improved on their black on black designs with attention to detail on every knob and clamp. Taking a look at the new line of G-Cinema rigs over on the auction site, list a whole new line of products, new DSLR rig configurations, cleaner designs, and now with lower prices for more parts. Similar DSLR configurations will run three times the price of a G-Cinema setup, so this is definitely the smart buy for the low budget guys who want that extra professional look. Check out the new lineup from G-Cinema DSLR Rigs.
[UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE] I received a Gini Rig and reviewed it here: http://cheesycam.com/the-gini-rig-arrives-from-korea

Just picked up the G 1700S Cage model... offered $550 on Ebay, he accepted, and it made it to my door (SJ, California) in only 4 days. It's solid and the workmanship is great. Buying this model, I am able to have a number of different configurations. Why pay $3K for Zacuto??????

Now actually are so many Dslr rigs in the markets, but maybe you can see "[O-Kit]-T For rod system" which is made from Taiwan.
This is great design you can put your led light and microphone in the O-ring, also can use matte box and follow focus to become a very lightweight Dslr support.

T-Pod (https://www.trek-tech.com/products/tripods.html) combined with 361 Shoulder Brace for Monopod (https://www.amazon.com/Manfrotto-361-Shooting-brace/dp/B001A1NZ0A)works great as an imitation Zacuto rig. So many possibilities to configure it too and all for 80 bucks. Bought it all at Henry's here in Canada but also available in the US.

I just bought the g-cinema rig. While I was skeptical it seemed like pretty good stuff. I received it today. Super fast delivery, sent a mail and tracking the day I ordered it. It came today 4 days after ordering. Other than sending the wrong color tightening knobs (i wanted black) its a great rig. built well, everything is sold. The anodizing is a bit thin, and I'm not too happy with the rods, it doesn't come with long enough rods from multiple setups. but you know the same Zacuto rig would run me at least $4000 (i live in Norway, high taxes). so I got the rig for 1/10 the price! I recommend it unless you have some crazy budget you have to spend...

Post authorThere are many 'ROD' type rigs being designed but a majority of them follow some basic rules of size and spacing. Therefore you can use RedrockMicro or Zacuto Handles on even these cheap rigs. You can buy different length rods, and a variety of different clamps and plates to make up your own 'custom' rig. If you want to add different accessories, you just need to find the right clamps or mounts to place it wherever you want. Getting into a base rig is the bulk of the cost, but afterwards there are many aftermarket options to build your rig from different companies.

Would you need to buy more accessories to attach extra things such as microphones, H4n, etc? How would you put one on one of these gini rigs?
