Just after posting the video about a Motion Timelapse Slider, i've received a few comments about other rigs. Kessler, the company famous for many of it's dollies, sliders, and jibs / cranes, seems to be working on a Motion Controlled version of their slider. Not yet available on their website, you can find more information in a few forums as well as at Tom Guilmette's blog.

Timelapse Panning Rig
Timelapse videos are cool, but panning and moving Timelapse videos are the coolest. Check out Dynamic Perceptions Stage Zero Motorized rig for motion Timelapse videos. Sean Stiegemeier used the prototype v2.1 to produce his stunning footage of the legendary Iceland volcano video at: https://vimeo.com/11673745. Very cool stuff, something I want to try, but I doubt i'll get the chance to shoot something as interesting as an Iceland Volcano. The best Timelapse video I might be able to provide you is my non-landscaped dirt filled backyard growing weeds this summer. No word on pricing yet, but i'll let you know as soon as I hear something.
Videos I Like – Los Angeles///Faster
Video Details from Fabio Cunha:
A time-lapse experiment. 4020 shots used from more than 8000 shots. 1 shot for every 2 seconds interval. Canon 7D with Tamron 17-50mm 2.8. Cheap intervalometer and a crappy tripod.
I'm going to start doing this more often and share videos I like on my blog. Vimeo user Fabio Cunha created this Timelapse video of Los Angeles. Fabio messaged me back on my question and provides me with the exact Timelapse Intervalometer (Timelapse Remote) that was used in the video above for the Canon 7D. You can find the Intervalometer model below.
The Effects of Tilt Shift Lenses
A must watch video! The above video might look like claymation or animation of some sort, but this is the effect of a skilled photographer / videographer with Tilt Shift lenses + Timelapse. Tilt Shift lenses have a weird effect from a distance often making objects look miniatureized. Check out a couple of Tilt Shift lenses for Canon below and don’t forget the Timelapse Intervalometer (remote).
TimeLapse Photography
The video above is an awesome example of what you can do with your DSLR and Timelapse photography. Timelapse photography is where you can set your camera to take a photo every so many seconds, or sometimes even minutes. Next just drag all the photos into a video Timeline and export as a video clip. In Sony Vegas, I often run each photo at 0.065 seconds on a 29.97 Timeline. In order to achieve timelapse function with your DSLR you will need a ‘timer’ or ‘intervalometer’. It's rare to find cameras that have built in Timelapse, and if they do, it might not be as flexible as having an exteral Intervalometer. Here's a great option that less than half the price of OEM if you're a Canon user.
GPHDC – GoPro HD Camera
This little guy rocks! Don't believe me? Check out some of the videos below. At only 6 ounces and smaller than a Mini-DV tape, this little HD video camera + 5 Megapixel Still camera is fun fun fun. Waterproof up to 180 Feet! Yes, take it under water, mount it outside your car, attach it to your dirtbike, or take it skiing. It's even got it's own built in Timelapse. This totally opens up some new ideas for me. There is so much you want to do with this camera, that you wouldn't dare try with your DSLR.
All these features for approx $260. Grab one! or Two! or Three!
You have got to watch the video....
