Here's a recent video from Vimeo member Jason Shelton put together with the BlackMagic Design Cinema Camera. He had the opportunity to shoot with the new BMCC for a week and used the following lenses: Tamron 18mm-270mm, Rokinon 24mm 1.4, Rokinon 35mm 1.4, Rokinon 85mm 1.4, and Canon 200mm 2.8.
The BlackMagic Design Cinema Camera was announced in April 2012 (last year) and is still on backorder with every retail store. The Rokinon 24mm F/1.4 sells for $615-$650 dollars (seen here), but for a limited time an authorized reseller is offering the new 24mm F/1.4 for $499 + FREE SHIPPING (all camera mounts). This is and easier lens to work with on a cropped sensor Canon, or even micro four thirds camera like the new GH3 as it would be closer to a 50mm (equivalent). Rokinon 24mm F/1.4 Canon Nikon Olympus Pentax Sony
The 24mm F/1.4 is a fairly new lens for Rokinon, but when it was announced it was listed with a pretty hefty price tag. Popular retailers like B&H and Amazon are still listing this lens for $616-$649. If you happen to be watching this lens, I just picked up news from Rokinon about one of their resellers listing the 24mm F/1.4 for just $499. Rokinon 24mm F/1.4 Manual Focus Manual Aperture Lens
So Rokinon had news a few weeks ago about releasing new 35mm, 24mm, and 14mm Cine style lenses. The 35mm Nikon mount version shows in stock status', and have already listed pre-order prices for the upcoming Rokinon 14mm T/3.1 and 24mm T/1.5.
These lenses already in exist in the Rokinon lineup, and the Cine versions are about $50 bucks more with a de-click aperture, relocated markings, and built in lens gear. Check out the new Cine lenses from Rokinon over at B&H following the link (Click Here).
Rokinon 35mm, 14mm & 24mm Cine Lenses
Who doesn't love the Samyang (or a.k.a Rokinon) 35mm F/1.4 prime? It's a decently sharp lens with fast aperture for a not so bad price. I couldn't pass up a recent deal and was able to grab (2) of them for just $375 the other day.
The 35mm focal length is nice for Full Frame cameras like the Canon 5D Mark II. There's been talks about Samyang releasing a 24mm F/1.4 lens for quite some time, which is a better focal length on cameras that have a cropped sensor like a GH2, Sony NEX, or even Canon 7D, 60D, T3i, etc. The good news is this 24mm F/1.4 prime lens is available now, but the bad news is they are dropping this bad boy for a starting price of over $800. Before you start flipping out, in contrast the Canon EF Auto Focus 24mm F/1.4L will run you about $1600 retail.
