Rokinon 8mm and 85mm Lenses – Lightning Deal

The Ultrawide Rokinon 8mm and fast 85mm F/1.4 lenses are back on Lightning Deals. These deals have always proved to be the cheapest price you'll find for these lenses. These deals only last for a few hours or until the quantity is sold out. You might find that it brings you to a Nikon mount deal, but no worries. Rokinon are all manual focus lenses, and the Nikon mount can fit on Canon bodies with a very thin and simple adapter like the ones (seen here on Amazon).

The Nikon mount can also fit pretty much everything else without a complicated adapter like a Sony FS100 down to a Sony NEX7 or GH2. Check it out at the deals page via Amazon (Click Here).

I've already sent one 8mm back cause it was waaaayyyy too soft. I also think the distance measurements on the focus ring were also WAY off. On #2 and unfortunately doesnt seem to be much better. Okay for video but for photos this is a no-go lens IMO.

  2. @ mark... there is no 50mm lens produced by this 8, 14, 24, 35, 85, 500 and 800.. and some 600-1200 zoom (or something in that range)

  3. @Mark London - How does the 24mm compare to the 35mm? I have the 35 and it's great, but I've heard that the 24's focus ring is not as good. Is that true?

There are cine versions coming. Can't WAIT for the 50mm. I already own all the others. Will probably upgrade to the cine versions.

GREAT lenses for the money. 14mm and 85mm spectacular.

  5. on the german market, where samyang, bower, vivitar etc is called "walimex" there is a film version of the 8 and the 35mm on the market. smooth f-stops (dunno how its called in english... t-stop? i think i heard that 1 before...)and a gear for your followfocus. all that for 50 bucks more...

The prices change on a daily basis. I picked my 85 up for 260 about a week ago. Great lens. Well worth the money.

Folks, you may want to wait a few weeks until the Cine versions of the 24mm, 35mm and 85mm will all be available. According to Samyang's Facebook page they also have a 50mm f/1.4 in the works.

I have the sigma fisheye, any comparison?
The 14mm Rokinon is such a wonderful lens. I use it on everything and clients love it.

Ah damn don't worry anyway they won't ship it to Aust. & I can't be bothered trying to setup a freight forwarder! 🙂

All is well I saved myself a couple of hundred anyway haha

Hmm ok fair call. However the only one I can see are 2 versions of the 8mm and the 85mm is saying "Check back" - does that usually mean its sold out or is it just not available yet?

@eroded - No worries. They are all manual lenses anyways, and the Nikon can fit Canon bodies or even Sony with very thin adapters. One of the best manual lenses to use with Canon is Nikon mounts.

  12. When I got the email this morning alerting me to these deals I was hoping the 14mm would be one of the deals since I already have both these lenses and have been looking to snag the 14mm. No such luck though. These are both great lenses and would recommend them to anyone looking for some fast primes.
