If you've been following this blog, then you may already know that I collect lens replica mugs. There are some cheap versions, but the best ones have the stainless steel insert and are 1:1 scale to the real lens, even down to the AF and IS switches.
Recently a new one has shown up in the form of a Canon EF 24-105mm F/4 IS Tea Cup. These are very small (shot glass like) tea cups with the Canon Lens inspiration. Sure, it's a novelty and great fun for collectors, but keep in mind these always make perfect gifts this time of year that won't ever get thrown away. These Lens Replica mugs come in Canon and Nikon in all the popular lens sizes. Some replicas are exactly to scale, and the new smaller cups are also available via eBay (click here).

I must have about 15 of these different mugs thanks to christmas and birthdays, I have them all stacked up in the studio and the clients love a coffee in a lens mug.

Post author@Min - The shape doesn't make it ideal as a real mug. I just collect them, and mostly use them to hold pencils at the desk.

I got the 70-200 f4 a while back, it doesn't work very well as a mug. The lid is the pop off kind and liquid drips easily and only keeps my drink warm for about an hour (vs 3 hrs with my good mug). And the distance meter was a sticker which fell off after several washes.
Em, I'm curious if they've improve the quality since and which one you think is best? I'm hoping the ones with the screw on caps hold liquid securely and keep it warm longer. Thanks.

At some point, and this is bound to happen at least once, someone is going to pour hot liquid into a real lens. The horror.

These make great coffee cups, as well for traditional stovetop brew ala demitasse cup.

Post author@Bas - I don't see why not, but I use many of my Lens Mugs as pencil holders on my desk.
