Vimeo member Just Basl Productions gives us his opinion on the VF Prime LCD view finder. This is a 3" LCD View Finder, so it will crop a bit on a T2i, T3i, or Canon 60D if you choose to use it. It's not the cheapest LCD Viewfinder solution, but it's also not the most expensive. This one has received excellent reviews so far. The mount is the typical stick on plastic frame type, and optional frames can be purchased seperately.

Post author@Hoop - I would suggest looking at the ones with a quick release baseplate if you are worried about the sticky frame.

Looks good, nice review but can you get the sticky frame off?
And, considering the fact we work in hot, humid climates, will it stay on - the stick on frame that is? We work in the jungle frequently. Worried it might damage our 5d.

Post author@Juan - Yes the VF Prime works on the 5D and 7D (3" LCD) better than a T2i.

In the description or reviews, nobody mention if if for the 5D MKII. Anyone use is VF on a 5D ?

Post author@Rod Permenter - Both are great, but the VF prime will have a 1mm crop. You won't be able to close your LCD screen back into the body (to hide the lcd screen) once you use either of them because they require the frame to be stuck on the screen.

Which is the best viewfinder for the 60D? I'm also considering the 3:2 VFinder which is priced better but the VF Prime looks like better construction.

Anyone tried the Seagul? If so did you like it? It seems to be a bit different than the VF prime since apparently the magnification is adjustable from 1x to 3x....

I have one of these (bought in China when I was there) and love it. I like sticking the mount right on the camera a lot more than putting a mounting bracket under the camera frame. Makes a lot more sense to me. I'd like to get several more. Funny thing: I couldn't get the magnification to work at all (I wear glasses) until I was cleaning the elements once, dropped one, chipped the edge of it (small and didn't make a diff in the visual when looked through it), and then put it back the opposite way by mistake. Ha!! When i put it in backwards, the magnification worked perfectly! Strange.
