First seen as the GGS Foldable ViewFinder, it looks like a number of businesses have rebranded this one. GGS is the company that designed the popular slip on LCD Glass screen Protector for the T2i. On it's first release the GGS Hoodeye view finder sold for over $120 dollars, but with all the competition on the market prices keep getting lower. This ViewFinder has 3x Optical Magnification, 3 elements in the optics and a +-3 diopter for the not so perfect vision. When not in use, the frame attached to the DSLR LCD is actually a screen protector (not just sticky frame).
Now on eBay the rebranded GGS HoodEye has fallen below $60 bucks, but this viewfinder is only available for square 3" DSLR LCDs. Found below.
3" LCD View Finder Loupe for DSLR
For those who are still looking for a T2i, T3i, or 60D (3:2 size LCDs), the CarrySpeedVfinder has dropped back down just a few bucks too.

I have the same question asked above. Where can we get additional plates? I removed the glass by heating it up with a hair dryer and pushing the glass out.

any luck on this matching up on a GH1? hm? anyone?
Rob
Thanks Emm - I'm rubbish at DIY so please update us if you do this!
Emm
Post author@Rob - I think it's possible to remove the glass area with a nice Dremel tool. I might try it myself.
Rob
I have one of these. The stick-on glass screen is used to mount the unit, but does it really need to have that glass? It would add glare when the item is not in use, not good for me, as a stills photographer. Has anyone modified the frame to remove the glass, and if so how easy is it?

So far I'm lovin mine on the 7D. Thanks Emm!!!

Any idea if you can find just the frame that attaches to the camera for these? I would like to have some spares for a second camera or if the frame breaks.

I bought this for the 60D and it is pretty awesome! I've only had it for a few days, but it does it's job very well.
The only downside is that I can no longer close the flip out LCD screen on the 60D, good thing it acts as a screen protector!
Emm
Post author@Jj - The one that fits 'correctly' is the CarrySpeed for 3:2 size LCDs. The GGS one doesn't fit perfectly and will have a crop on each side.
Emm
Post author@mike - The 3" screen is square, and the 3.2" screens are wider (side to side) and shorter (top to bottom). If you really want to have one with a diopter for Canon 60D check out Letus Hawk VF's. Can't go wrong there, but costs more money.
Emm
Post author@Mike - Yeah it will fit, but will have a 1mm crop on each side.
Emm
Post author@Madara - The CarrySpeed has one for the 60D LCD size, the GGS does not.
Madara
Hey Emm,
Does one work better with the 60D than the other?
mike
How come the website says that it's compatible with 60D. Lcd's with 3:2.
mike
Wait, this (GGS) doesn't work with the 60D? Doesn't the 60D have a 3" screen? The other one doesn't have a diopter. Please clarify Emm when you get a chance. Thank you.

Emm, which one would u recommend for my t2i.. I was about ready to order the magnetic ones but this one looks good too and I might be able to get it sooner than the ones coming from china..
Nicholas
@Mark, thanks!
Emm
Post author@JJ - They do not use Magnets. It snaps onto the frame and seen in their photos with a little clip thing to remove it.

This looks like the first reasonably priced viewfinder out there.
Speaking of the Jag36 Monitor X, I noticed that they list the magnification at 40%, whereas everyone else says, 2x, 3x, etc. It makes me think that their magnification is really 1.4x (or 140%) ... which in my experience isn't going to be enough.

Emm
Post author@PD - It will crop off just a bit like this httpss://cheesycam.com/z-finder-or-lcdvf-t2i-no-no-no/
PD
How come this won't work on the T2i. Does it just cut off a millimeter or so? I like the price but was concerned with whether it would fit as well as the lens inside. Does it pincushion the image?
Mark
@Nicholas i just typed LCD Viewfinder into UK ebay (not sure whereabouts in the world you are) and found it there too so shipping isnt as restricted as you may think. Here's the link i used, lots of different companies selling the same product as usual:
https://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_npmv=3&_trksid=p3910.m570.l1313&_nkw=lcd+viewfinder&_sacat=See-All-Categories
Hope that helps =)
jakob
it dont work for the t2i =(
Nicholas
"Will ship to United States ONLY."
Wonderful so much for the rest of the world. I was looking at the Jag35 Monitor X but it's a bit pricey.
JJ
Hey Emm do these have the magnets so you can quickly snap them on and off the camera like the other loupes??
