The world of Macro (super close-up) is quite commonly associated with tiny forms of life such as insects and flowers. This video is an inspiration on what can be done in forms of story telling all shot in Macro mode by Vimeo member Emotion.
No information on what it was technically shot with, but if you're on a DSLR a lens very capable of performing at this level would be one of my favorites - the Canon 100mm F/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens.

as far as the video goes. pretty cool, has a weird oozy feel to it, kinda alienish or something. the music sounds harshly edited imho. but over all an awesome job, not easy making smooth rack focus and dolly moves with macro.

i highly recommend the canon fd lenses for macro, just get the adapter without the glass element.

Well I thought I would share my "macro video" when I first saw this up. But then I watched it, and I'm a bit embarrassed to make the comparison.
But here it is anyway. I really struggled with keeping stuff in focus. I think the difference was I was trying to use macro tubes?
Despite my trepidation here it is. Let me know what you think.
Thanks.

I LOVE the 100mm macro - Here's a little ditty done using the 1DMkIV, some macro shots, some low light and a little parkour / free running 🙂 6400 iso

I didn't have a as big a problem with the slow zooms as Brendan but I agree that it was too long. This would work well if it was half as long and had a stronger pay-off at the end. I like story so for me, the final two shots didn't quite cut it on an emotional level.

I thought that was incredible. I agree w/ Brendan that it was a bit long. I fast forwarded after a minute or so.
Brendan
This was a really cool idea, but I could have done without 3 minutes and 54 seconds of constant slow zooms.

I would also recommend the Sigma 70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro. It's sharper than the Canon, has less CA and is half the price. No IS, though.
