Yes, the 5D Mk III shutter button video start/stop menu option is only available when in Video mode. It is in the red "Shoot" menu on page 5. (stills menu only has 4 pages)

In reply to Madridb. @madridb - It's in the menu. You can change the option so that the shutter button will start/stop video. I have set mine to that option, I can confirm that it is available.

Well , I have the MarkIII, and DONT have the option to start video record on the Shutter release buttom. The shutter bottom can be configure with 3 other functions but it is not the video record.

Please confirm if im wrong, but i think it doesnt have the option.

In reply to chris watters. @Chris watters - I beleive they have a hotshoe mount or a 1/4-20 thread. You can get a lightstand with a 1/4-20 thread on top, or use adapters.

Start recording - in video mode. In the ML menu under "MOVIE" - the option "Movie Rec Key" can be changed for recording with the Half shutter. It works with remotes and wireless shutters.
