sf-crawfish-boil

Yo! Big ups to Waylon from Vimeo for cutting this video!! The 7th annual San Francisco Crawfish boil was fun and the Crawfish was off the hook. The weather was sunny and in the 90's at the Marina Green (lucky day).

While there, I got to meet up with the well known San Francisco Photographer JJ Casas. He was there taking out his lady for her birthday ( Happy B-Day Cher !). More coverage of the 7th Annual San Francisco Crawfish festival can be found on JJ's blog here: https://jcasasphotography.blogspot.com/2010/06/7th-annual-sf-crawfish-boil-and-my.html

We ran around picking up some footage for the guys who put this together every year using a Canon 5D Mark II + 24-105mm IS, Canon 7D + 24mm F/1.4, Zoom H4n, & Rode Video Mic. Each of the cameras rocked the Fader ND Filters to get our shutter speeds to a manageable level while allowing us to shoot with Depth of Field. I'm not the greatest video editor, so Waylon cut up a quick one for us with his FCP skills. There will be a full cut for the event owners later.

Fader ND Filters. Gotta Get these!

Although you don't catch much of the audio for this cut, the Zoom H4n was on site with us too.

DSLRUniversity.com just posted a nice review showcasing the Think Tank Airport Security v2.0 rolling camera bag. If you're shopping for a new travel bag that will keep your gear organized, safe, and used for Carry On to an airliner, check out the review. I think I paid $500 for a Tamrac years ago, i'm so glad to see these prices coming down with much better quality too. You can find the prices for the Think Tank Airport Security v2.0 rolling Camera bag by clicking here.

Anyone going to do a Photo Walk this year? Let me know, I just might make it out to hang and learn from some of you professionals. It definitely looks like a lot of fun, and definitely a great positive type of event to socialize. I'm thinking there's going to be more Video DSLR's catching some BTS moments more than they are taking pictures. LOL. Official date is set for July 24th, 2010. By the way, if you want to Lead your own group of Walkers, check out this link: https://worldwidephotowalk.com/leader.

More information on the World Wide Photo walk over at....umm https://worldwidephotowalk.com of course.

Sample Video from YouTube:

I've been researching a cheap affordable solution for a Wireless Lav kit. After doing my own research, I think i'm going to settle on this Azden Wireless LAV / Handheld kit. It's fairly cheap inexpensive and has 37 reviews with almost 5 stars over at BHPHOTOVIDEO.com. I guess I'm not sure how well the handheld microphone is going to perform, but I've heard quality samples coming from the LAV mic. It definitely beats trying to grab the audio from your DSLR in a noisy environment. Hey for the price, you can't complain. It's actually about $10 dollars cheaper to buy this kit from BHPHOTOVideo.com rather than eBay too, so if you're thinking the same, here's the link.

If you're curious about the quality, you can always rent it for as little as $10 dollars now from BorrowLenses.com my favorite DSLR equipment rental place.Click Here.

Wow, i'm excited to see what will go down with this year's 48 Hour Film project. With all the new DSLR's capable of Cinematic footage, and the affordable T2i recently released, this should be an interesting year of Films being created for the 48 Hour film project. Anyone planning on shooting this year? More information about the project, following this link.

From the website:
The 48 Hour Film Project comes to San Jose on the weekend of August 13th. Filmmakers from all over the Bay area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up against films from around the world.

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie—write, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours.

On Friday night, you get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in your movie. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete. Then it will show at a local theater, usually in the next week.

In 2009, nearly 40,000 filmmakers made 3,000 films in in 76 cities. This year, we're even bigger, with filmmakers around the world taking the challenge to make a film in just 48 hours.

Update: You can now buy the LCDVF 3/2 from BHPHOTOVIDEO.com.
Grab yourself the LCDVF 3/2 from BHPHOTOVIDEO.com

There's word on the streets that the new LCDVF for the Canon 550D / T2i will begin shipping soon to distributors. The original LCDVF for most 3" LCD's did not fit exactly on the new LCD design from Canon. I haven't heard of anything else different about magnification, diopters, or mounting options, so I expect it to be very similar in design, just a bit wider. The original LCDVF's for most Canon, Nikon, and other cameras with a standard 3" LCD can still be bought here.

HOLY C*****!!!! iPhone 4 anything is just crazy crazy crazy!. Check out this corny 'Domain Name' that sold for $500,000.00 (Half Million Dollars). Don't believe me? Check out the link Here:
Looks like Apple isn't the only one profiting from the new Apple iPhone 4 release. I wonder what the eBay fees are for that type of sale?

I've been trying to upgrade the iPhone over the Internet, but the site has been down or not responding. I really wanted to start testing the Video capabilities and Photo features. Looks like Apple's going to be real busy with the new iPhone 4 sales. If you really have to have it, or you might be in a country where they haven't released it just yet, you can still grab it via eBay. Check out the auction prices going on right, following this link.

Wow, it's amazing how a simple product from the aisles of a home improvement store can be transformed into so many different things by so many different people. In Video world, this is actually becoming a quite popular little DIY stabilizer and feedback has been great about the stability of the tool. Here's a couple more rigs that are popping up.

Check out the Video trailer below shot in what I believe is the Canon 550D / T2i. I get lots of emails, so if I've missed anyone else, or if you have one to share, let me know, thanks.
