sony-world-photo-awards

sony-photo-competition

Video is fun, lots and lots of fun. But sometimes we forget we're still rockin' one of the worlds most poular Photography cameras. If you want to step aside from video and try your hand at some photography contests, here's one I think you'll like. Oh and if you're considered a 'professional' photographer (who makes a majority of their income through selling photos), then you need not apply. It's called the Sony World Photography Awards, but for some reason, in the rules I can't find that it needs to be shot on Sony. Hmm....I could be wrong, but check it out for yourself.

There's also the Energizer Photography Contest for National Geographic too.

About the 2010 Energizer
Ultimate Photo Contest

Do you have a winning shot? Send in your best photos—in categories like Animals/Wildlife, Travel, and Weather—for a chance to win a National Geographic Expeditions trip for two to Greece! The winning photo will also be featured in an Energizer ad in the December issue of National Geographic magazine.

This year, the Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest is all about you. Send in your photos, rate contest entries, see how your favorites are doing, and ask award-winning photographer and contest judge Jim Richardson your photography questions.

There's no question about one thing: To get the best shot, you need the best equipment. That's where Energizer comes in. Energizer® Ultimate Lithium AA and AAA batteries are the world's longest lasting batteries in high-tech devices. They last up to eight times longer than Energizer® MAX® in digital cameras (results vary by camera), you can take your mind off your batteries and focus on capturing that winning photo.

aftermarket-550d-grip

Finally! The 550D / T2i aftermarket battery grip + 2 batteries is sitting here at my desk, and i'll have more photos and full review later when I get back home. There are many sellers, but the boxes seem to be the same packaging. Does anyone have a different box? Send in your photos and comments, i'll do an awesome review for everyone when I get back home. Click the image above if you want to buy one from the same eBay seller I purchased mine from.

I've blogged about this item before at http://cheesycam.com/?p=241. This time around I thought i'd show you what it looks like on video. This is not limited to the 550D, in fact i've owned this special Macro Bellow since the Canon EOS 20D was new. For some reason I'm able to get best results using the 18-55mm kit lens on a cropped camera. It doesn't have Image Stabilization, but this little rail can outperform the $1000 dollar Canon 100mm Macro any day, and it starts for only around $30 bucks. You can find a bunch of these Macro Bellows for sale by clicking here.

This bellow works similar to these Extension Tubes found here.

Here's a riddle. What has a crap load of skater wheels, some fancy red bearings, and an HD Camera? Well it's me of course! Just showing off some gear to start up a Roller Derby team this summer. JK! (hope nobody took that seriously).

Just wanted to show off some of the items that will be finishing off the first round of Spider Trax Dollies found at https://spidertraxdolly.com. If you don't know what i'm talking about, check out the website. Pre-orders will start sometime next week and there will be a limited run on the first batch so start saving your pennies and stay tuned with the website when the Pre-orders will be announced. https://spidertraxdolly.com.

Someone asked me about centering the balance of the camera to one of my latest DIY DSLR Cage / Fig rig / Stabilizers. Originally I designed it to center for the upper handle for those low flying shots, but if anyone cares about adjusting the camera on the rig, with back and forth adjustments, here's a simple solution using my Macro Rail slider for Macro photography. You can find a bunch of these rails by clicking here.

This one looks a bit more beefier than the last Silicone Skin case I blogged about earlier. This one uses the term 'Armor'. Even though the higher end bodies are a bit more weather sealed, If you plan on going rough with your gear (paintballing?), you might want to give these guys a go. Especially for those of you who plan on taking the lighter weight 550D / T2i camera bodies out in the field. Available for different camera bodies, yes even Nikon, Check out some of the different available Camera Armor cases here.

When DSLR video's hit the market, the companies weren't ready for it. Although FCP has had some plugins designed and some Compression settings to convert them to an editable format, I think Adobe is setting the bar. Jason Levine shows off some of the new Native DSLR Editing on Adobe CS5. I like it, I think i'm going CS5 just for the editing ability.

550d-waterproof-housing

Wow, awesome stuff here by NauticamUSA.com. Yeah first time i've heard about them too! Maybe because I was never crazy enough to take my gear underwater. The rig looks pretty sick and they've got something for the Canon 7D as well. I believe there is a Nikon D90 in there too, but who cares. JK Nikonians!! (sorta). Hopefully they'll be flattered that i've 'borrowed' a few images from their galleries to showcase it to you to guys. Hey it's free advertising Nauticam, now if only I can get one to review...hint hint nudge nudge. You can find way more cool photos of these rigs in the water, cool video samples, plus other housings at their website https://nauticamusa.com

These things look soo cool, i'd run around with them 'out of water'!

Well thanks to some good tips, I was reffered to a pretty sweet deal on Amazon US. These appear to be the aftermarket batteries like the ones everyone has been searching for, but this kit also comes with a few other nifties. Not too bad of a price if you're looking for a reliable Amazon seller compared to an overseas eBayer. If you follow my blog, i'm STILL WAITING on my aftermarket grip to review from overseas. So if you're impatient about getting your batteries in a hurry, Here's more of the information about the 'kit'.
