Test Drive – Senna One Minute XL Crane

Recently we had the opportunity to take the Senna One Minute XL Crane out for a spin. The XL version can be used in a shorter configuration (approx 10ft) or with the full length extension (approx 14ft). The name is derived from the fact that one person can literally setup the entire crane in one minute.

There's a very small learning curve during the first assembly, but your second time around should be a breeze. For many large cranes, you may end up spending extra money on a solid tripod or a very large fluid head. One benefit is the Senna One Minute XL Crane comes with it's own custom tripod with panning base and custom tripod dolly.

The system is ready-to-run (minus counterweights). Every single piece on the Senna One Minute XL Crane serves a very specific purpose which makes for a very straight forward assembly and tear down - without the need for tools.

@michael - Pricing varies depending on where you purchase it. As the manufacturer, they only speak on MSRP, but often you'll find it for less through resellers / retailers. The product description is found on the manufacturers website, the product is sold through a variety of stores.

  2. Considering that in the obviously EDITED video it took 2:39 to assemble, I don't get the "one minute" claim. Looks like it takes longer to get up and going than my EZ-Jib.

    It looks ok.
I have zero use for a $2k+ crane I own though, and on jobs where i need one (1, 2 a year?), there's usually a decent budget so I rent.
My $400 one man jib is however, amazingly useful! I use that on almost every job.
Having it be able to be assembled in a minute is not a useful factor if it only come out of the case twice a year!

  4. Price at almost USD 3k? Sorry, Senna really has to offer more than just that crane for that price. Does the head shown in @Emm's video above included too? Why not put the price at the Senna website?

The price of the crane with dolly frame is 1960€.

Here is how it can be assembled in a minute (the video shows its short configuration, full configuration includes just one arm extension more):

The advantage of this crane is that it has 18 bearings connecting all the moving parts which allow perfectly smooth motion even when staring or stopping the movement!

  6. It looks like a carefully machined product. Can't tell its price. But one minute? Come on. It's 20-30 mins at best. Which is not bad, but don't make unrealistic promises....
