Here's a look at the new FotoDiox Shark Camera Cage for the Sony A7R II or Sony A7s II cameras. It's more of a half-cage style rig with a wooden side handle. It is available in two color finishes - Samurai Silver and Pitch Black.

One thing to note is that this cage design blocks access to the Sony Multi-function hotshoe just in case you're working with the Sony XLR adapter (seen here). The Shark Cage comes with a Top Handle, 15mm Base, (2) 15mm Aluminum Rods, locks for HDMI and audio cables, and enough room to support various lens adapters.

Besides the Sony A7sII and Sony A7RII, the new FotoDiox SharkCage designs are also available for the Panasonic GH4 and Samsung NX1 cameras (here)

Rod based rigs are nice, since you can slide for adjustments to fit pretty much any body type. The problem is finding cheap clamps for those 90 Degree angles. Here's a guy who was able to machine some of his own clamps for standard sized rods. The DIY video above was submitted to me by Igor which is very similar to Zacuto's $1000 dollar 'Striker' rig. I'm guessing Igor didn't spend $1000.00 dollars for his DIY project. Thanks for sharing, check out his DIY rig, and leave Igor some comments at his video link here.

I saw these grips a while back online, but thought they would be something very tiny and not very useful. Turns out these things are quite large and the company who makes it also designs Gun and Rifle type stabilizers. I have yet to see a DSLR + Viewfinder with this handle, but thinking that would look very very cool. Might be a great handle to add to the DIY shoulder rigs.
