  1. Emm,

I couldn't find any sample of video or pic when this 8mm is used with GH2 or some camera with say 2.0 crop factor? Do you know any link?

P.s. Obviously if used with fullframe camera like 5d it will give a spherical fisheye effects. But just wondering how does this might look with the new BMCC.

To those who saw the price... what was it? I would like to know for future sales on this lense.

It will work, but the position of the lens needs to be aligned properly, otherwise things won't line up around the edges. I've used it for a 360 pano of a room in my house before with a makeshift mount, centering the front of the lens with the horizontal rotation axis of the tripod. Really only need 3 shots if you're going around, or 5 if you want all of the floor and ceiling.

  4. It's a great deal and a lens I've been dying to try. I've heard that it doesn't play well with many pano stitching applications. Not sure if it's because of the distortion or something else but the Sigma 8mm is allegedly still a more reliable choice for 360 panos.

@schill - Yeah not many people talk about the Cine 8mm lens, but YouTube member ThisOyster has something here.

B&H has two very similar lenses from Rokinon: the f/3.5 ($234) and f/3.8 cine ($350). It looks like the cine has a "declicked aperture" and "toothed rings." I guess these make adjustments while shooting video quieter, smoother, and easier (smooth change in aperture).

  7. This lens is nuts on the GH2 (just received mine last week! :3 ). Go into crop mode, and it's almost normal looking. Go into 720p crop and it looks like a regular lens. Since it's so wide, it has the effect of looking stabilized, too. All with a large DOF and decent aperture.

@Cole - Wonder if that just happened this morning. I looked earlier and didn't see that price.

@Habez there is a vginetting on the full frames with this lens. I have read that it is due to the fixed petal hood.

I have the Canon version and it easily the best affordable lens you can buy. Its manual focus only though. yes Habez it can be mounted on full frame though it does require you to cut out the bit of plastic by the last element (not hard).

Is this only for Canon version? Nikon or Nikon AE has different prices when I put in cart..

I'm a proud owner of the 24mm 1.4 from samyang and i have to say it is one heck of a lens. Zero regrets with it (:

One question though Emm: This 8mm fisheye is compatible with fullframe cameras? Not sure why I sort of have this impression that there is a fish eye manual lens floating around that is only suitable for smaller cropped sensors. (APSC? m4/3?)

  13. Dude, what have you done to us... I live in fear that I'll wake up too late and miss the next Samyang deal. Unfortunately I'm not in the market for this one. A friend of mine has it, I borrow it from time to time, and it's a very special purpose lens. But I'm still crying over missing the 35. I'm down for the 35, the 24, the 85 even the 14 from Samyang.
