30Mar P&C Swiss Rod 15mm Accessory Rail – Available
The new P&C Swiss Rod adds simple mounting solutions for DSLR accessories onto your standard 15mm DSLR Video rigs. It is not designed to replace all of your 15mm rails, but with just one Swiss Rod clamped to your rig, you have 20 different mounting options to choose from. You can attach an accessory directly or for more flexibiltiy add a friction arm, quick release, or cold shoe adapter to the Swiss Rod. The Swiss Rods have both male and female threaded ends so they can be extended. Threads are standard and I have attached them directly to Gini rails and even the Letus DSLR cage.
International buyers will be able to purchase from our partner retailers on Amazon and eBay. For USA, the new P&C Swiss Rods are now available on the PhotographyandCinema.com website (Click here).

What’s the threading? I wonder if it could replace the one of the rods on my Pocket Rig from Edelkrone?
March 30th, 2012 at 4:28 pm
@Luke – The threading is designed to fit most standards including Letus and Gini which should be 1/2 x 13. Not sure about Edelkrone.
March 30th, 2012 at 5:19 pm
Why didn’t you add some 3/8 holes? can’t be that hard. For me that’s a big let down. It’s not the same with adapters.
Nice product anyway.
March 30th, 2012 at 5:27 pm
@Luke – i’d be very interested to know what size the rods on the pocket rig are. i contacted them a while ago and they told me their threads are “not standard with the rods out there”, which is not encouraging. i want to get a pocket rig for travel purposes, but only if it’s compatible with standard accessories like the swiss rod, and i can extend to fit a ff on long lenses like 70-200 2.8.
March 30th, 2012 at 5:37 pm
@debaser – Nobody said it was hard to do, but there are adapters that step up a 1/4 to 3/8. I know you mention it’s not the same, but I use those step up adapters for mounting fluid heads to sliders all the time. That same 3/8″ adapter should be able to hold a simple accessory, and i’m not even sure how many accessories require a 3/8″ mount. Here’s the type of adapters if anyone is looking for these

Cool, will be ordering one tonight! These look super convenient!
March 30th, 2012 at 7:12 pm
Hi, thanks for your answer.
Some really good magic arm like the 7″ Manfrotto Hydrostatic Arm use the 3/8 mount and that kind of adapter is not what he need. Is true that in the DSLR world not many accessories use it but in the digital cinema world (Alexa, RED, etc.) the 3/8 is very common and useful and i think that some 3/8 threaded hole would be handy. but for now i think i can live with this nice and original Swiss rod!
Where can i buy your great groduct with international shipping?
March 30th, 2012 at 7:30 pm
Will the Swissy fit the Link Delight rail on sale recently?
March 30th, 2012 at 8:21 pm
I hope they don’t sell out before they make it available on ebay.
March 30th, 2012 at 8:37 pm
I need at least one too (international buyer.. boring!) hopefully they wont charge too much for shipping.. :S Well, we can only hope.. lol
March 30th, 2012 at 8:46 pm
@Tony – The 15mm ends should fit the clamps. They are standard 15mm also.
March 30th, 2012 at 8:47 pm
@debaser – It’s on the way to some sellers who can handle international shipping. Should be available by Monday.

How much is shipping within the US? It won’t let me see w/o checking out.
March 31st, 2012 at 12:24 pm
@Greg – You won’t see it, because all items from PhotographyandCinema.com are FREE SHIPPING in the USA. Enjoy.
March 31st, 2012 at 2:29 pm
Are they aluminum? Curious if I’d be able to rethread the end.
March 31st, 2012 at 2:41 pm
How long does general shipping within the USA? I am in Utah.
This is one of the most brilliant designs I have seen in a long time. I am psyched to check it out. I can see hundreds of ways to rig these. Both on camera and off with a car rig we have set up with 15mm rods.
props to everyone involved in designing the Swiss Rods
March 31st, 2012 at 3:00 pm
What’s the brand baseplate/rails combo you got going on in your video there?
March 31st, 2012 at 9:30 pm
@Luke – I don’t think you can rethread the Swiss Rod.
March 31st, 2012 at 9:32 pm
@MN – That’s from a Skier, but you can find the same from many other companies including Gini.
March 31st, 2012 at 10:04 pm
@JSS – Shipping seems to be more expensive than the Rod itself. The only way to make it worth it is to bundle several items together to make it worth the shipping fees. You can find it on eBay: (4pcs) P&C Swiss Rods 15mm Accessory Rail
March 31st, 2012 at 10:05 pm
@Habez – Sorry, looks like shipping with tracking info is very expensive. In order to make it worthwhile a minimum of 4pcs need to be ordered. Found here: (4pcs) P&C Swiss Rods 15mm Accessory Rail
March 31st, 2012 at 10:16 pm
Wow. Can’t believe it’s expensive to ship one stick.
March 31st, 2012 at 10:26 pm
@Nikita Pavlov – Yeah, for small items it doesn’t make sense when the shipping is more than the product itself. The only way to make it worthwhile is by bundling several items.
April 1st, 2012 at 12:20 am
Emm, what is the rough ETA on the P&C Cage? I’m sorta holding out getting the “Cheesy Sticks” until that is out. I’d like to re-rig my rig into a cage style w EVF.
Keep up the great designs!
April 1st, 2012 at 6:23 am
omg. im paying like 200 bucks for 4 rods. o.O (inserts disappointed face)
April 1st, 2012 at 6:26 am
Actually, make that like 230 singapore dollars. o.O Emm, can’t they make the rod included in other packages like with the pico flex or i dunno.. Bundled with a friction arm?
Like, why can they ship single friction arms but not the rod
April 1st, 2012 at 8:21 am
@Habez – Try using the [contact seller] from the listing and see if they can customize your order. Once the weight hits a certain amount, shipping + tracking info is expensive.
April 1st, 2012 at 8:21 am
@DigitalCyclops – Most of the cage is done. One more part is being made and that should be next for release.
April 1st, 2012 at 8:35 am
Emm, weren’t you guys going to be coming out with a cage at some point in the future?
April 1st, 2012 at 8:51 am
@Paul H – Yes that’s probably the next thing to be announced. There’s one more part being manufactured to complete the cage, but most of it is already complete.
April 2nd, 2012 at 5:12 pm
…ORDERED!! hope it gets here before this weekends convention…totally interested to add this to my “targetshooter-striker”
April 5th, 2012 at 12:22 pm
@Emm Just received 2 Swiss Rods. Quality and built of this thing is amazing. Well made. Perfect. Only draw back. Package was already open when I got it. One of the rod has slight paint damage but doesn’t affect the function. Screws where there thankfully. Poor packaging.
By the way, I don’t have anything to mount these Rods too…. Why? i have a project coming up and has nothing to do with DSLR, but still photography.
April 6th, 2012 at 5:46 am
2 received… packaging intact – no complaints. Highly recommended if you are in need of additional mounting options.
April 8th, 2012 at 7:47 pm
@ Emm, when is it going to be available for us in Canada?
April 8th, 2012 at 8:48 pm
@Tristan – P&C has to find retailers to carry this for shipping internationally then most likely it will be from eBay.
April 22nd, 2012 at 10:22 am
Hello Emm,
one question: where did you buy the hot shoe that appears at the video?
thanks
April 22nd, 2012 at 10:54 am
@arturo – I might have received mine from a flash kit, dslr cage kit, or something. They are pretty generic and can be found online like this: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Cameras-Photo-/625/i.html?_sop=15&_from=R40&_nkw=cold+shoe+adapter
April 22nd, 2012 at 12:02 pm
Thanks a lot!
May 21st, 2012 at 8:10 pm
Hi. I just wondered where can i buy that shoulder pad rig with that offset connector thing? thank you.
May 21st, 2012 at 8:21 pm
@Brad – Some of those parts are from Gini http://cheesycam.com/the-gini-rig-arrives-from-korea/
June 7th, 2012 at 7:57 am
Great design, great function, great concept. Can’t wait for the cage.
Do these PC rods connect to the Extreme Gini 17 despite the 15, 17 disparity?
