Emm–what do you think of this lens?
Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Canon EF Mount
it’s compatible to canon 60d?
December 7th, 2011 at 2:43 pm
@Grace – All EF mounts are compatible with Canon cameras. The EF-S mount is the one that is not compatible with Full Frame Canon cameras. Keep in mind through that it may not be a true 8mm when mounted to a Canon 60D (crop factor).

Emm–thank you for the response. i’m a novice–an EF lens can be used for both full frame and crop sensor? However, I do understand that it would not be a true 8mm on a 60d.
2nd part of that question would be which out of the two rokinon lenses would you recommend–sharper–better for both pic and video?
thanks!

@Grace – Yes. Canon cameras that have EF-S mount can also use EF lenses. Canon cameras that have only EF mounts (full frame) ‘Cannot’ use EF-S lenses. The EF-S lens won’t even mount, and if you try to force it, the focus screen falls off. I had an assistant try to do that to one of my Canon 5D Mark IIs. LOL.

Yikes! Is that assist still with you? Thank you for the clarification on the EF and EFS lens–but having said that, out of the two Rokinons–which would you recommend?

just get the standard eos canon mount if you have the 60d. The fisheye is a little soft for photos but amazing for video. I use it almost daily. I film sports stuff… Very sharp to the corners and The flares are minimal when pointed at the sun. Amazing for the price. Worth at least double…

Thanks Ben! Will grab Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Canon EF Mount. Had one last question–as a beginner–will NOT having AF be a problem?
