27Oct DSLR Video Micro Crane / Jib Review
First video review from Vimeo member Pretty Little Films on the Micro Crane blogged here earlier. Original article found here. The footage looks smooth, and all the comments fairly positive. For the price and availability in UK, this could be one popular little crane. The micro crane from DSLR Devices are found following the link (click here)

@emm I heard you were maybe making a crane on twitter I would rather wait for yours since I love the pico dolly so much is that something that is 100% or just a thought at this point . Im debating on this or the glideshot 4 foot crane you reviewed what do u think would provide smoother shots ? Obviously this one is more portable but also cost more and is from the uk making shipping a long wait and more pricey

@JC – If you’re in no rush, hopefully I can start showing some crane samples in the next few weeks. Otherwise, they’ve done a great job with this micro crane. If you don’t need the portability, there’s tons of small 4ft. cranes available today including the glideshot which provides smooth shots.

Is it suffering from Cheesycam price inflation already? I seem to remember they were 120 pounds, or was it always 180 pounds? Still a bargain! Sold out until the end of November, unfortunately. :-/

I would be interested in this crane, but since it’s overseas and nearly $300 USD, I’ll have to pass. There’s some 4ft cranes on Ebay going for $99. They aren’t as portable, but cheaper nontheless.

I’m planning to buy a crane. wonder how is this compare to the Kessler kc-lite 8.0 crane?

I bought one last week after the first mention of the crane here, and I’m very happy with it ! light and easy to set up, and very smooth even at 24mm (on a 5D). The only thing that bother me, sometimes it’s difficult to keep a correct horizon. Maybe I’ll try what the guy did in the video shown here, they placed the counterweight at the extreme rear of the crane, in line (originally the counterweight is placed slightly on left side, so it tend to make the whole thing twisting, that’s why it’s hard to have a 180° pan that keep perfectly horizontal).
Ho and the other problem is having to carry 4kg of counterweight (for a 5D with a 16-35 L), I’m looking for a switchable weight : off it weight nothing, on you adjust the weight you need, the opposite of a zero-G device … any idea ?

How long is this when it’s fully extended/assembled?
October 28th, 2011 at 12:41 am
It seems to fit right on to the manfrotto tripod but will it fit other tripod brands?

looks like a tempting crane, but I wish it extended a bit longer. Love that it is portable though. I’ll hold out for em’s too.

“Is it suffering from Cheesycam price inflation already? I seem to remember they were 120 pounds, or was it always 180 pounds? Still a bargain! Sold out until the end of November, unfortunately. :-/”
nope, did it a tiny bit cheaper on the big cartel site the 1st day (by £5) thinking it was simpler than ebay but it was more hassle, and in fact, will be offering a brake and more hardware to help attach on head and camera in the next batch, yet keep the same price, plus i busted my balls to drive the price of shipping down

“DSLR-DEVICES”
If ordered today when is the next batch shipping?
October 29th, 2011 at 8:42 am

“will be offering a brake and more hardware to help attach on head and camera”
so the Mid Nov batch will have these extra items?

Oh wow… DSLR-Devices is no longer a registered user on Ebay?
November 5th, 2011 at 6:02 am
DSLR devices is not any more on Ebay.
The reason of this withdrawal by eBay security department is unclear but scary.
As I had allready ordered the crane,
I was sent a message from eBay security department warning me not to pay or if I had already paid to open a case with pay pall.
What is going on?

hello all, many apologies to regarding the situation with Ebay, they suspended the account with no warning or reason and i have gone through a nightmare ordeal attempting to get it back up and running. my main aim is to get the items to those that have bought asap, i did mention that it would be 15-20th November that the 2nd batch would be ready, i just hope this situation can be sorted before im back from Japan and no further issues or delays arise. i hope people can understand its difficult to maintain fast information while abroad with little access to the internet and dealing with difficult time differences and international call centers.
like i said i think things are on the way to being on track again but i want to make sure all information on the customers that have already have bought can be secured and only after then will we look into ways of selling more as its a shame that there is some much positive interest from people. i hope people can understand that this is out of our control and we are deeply upset and sorry for any distress.
thank you , James Smith /DSLR-DEVICES

New DVD coming out !
“How to blow out a perfectly profitable business in

By DSLR-Devices … don’t miss out !!!

The move on the video is called a ’tilt’ up A pan is left to right – tilts are up and down… minor thing.
I got my mini crane from DSLR-Devices today but cant do anything with it because I have no idea how to attach it to my tripod.
So I’m so far, disappointed but I’ll try and work it out.
