DJI Inspire 1 Quadcopter Latest Customer Videos

The DJI Inspire 1 Quadcopter has seen quite a few delays, but a few customers have already received their units. I just received news that mine just shipped out today (should be here Monday). Although this is an amazing copter as far as feature set goes, people were a bit hesitant about the quality of the built in camera. Here's a couple of the 'most recent' videos uploaded on YouTube.

And of course one of it's stand out features is the ability to fly stable indoors. While the DJI Phantom relied heavily on GPS for stability, the Inspire 1 has added several new sensors below the copter that can detect distance from the floor. Here's a video showing stable flight indoors.

While some may argue that the quality of the DJI Inspire 1 camera may not be as good as the new GoPro HERO4 4K, the Inspire 1 adds so many new features that may outweigh the cons. Some of those features include built in Lightbridge for streaming true HD video back to your device while allowing further distance of control, sensors for stable flight indoors, raised landing gears for 360 panoramic camera movement, and dual remotes for second operator (one flies one controls cameras movements). Not to mention more powerful motors when flying in certain elements.

The new DJI Inspire 1 is available with a single remote or dual remotes, but unfortunately from what I hear DJI is only shipping 'single remote kits'. If you ordered the Dual Remote Kit, the second remote may ship separately - possibly at a later time. While i'm also super excited to get it off the ground, it only ships with one battery and additional spare Inspire 1 batteries are still on pre-order status.

You can find more information or order the product (here).

Would love to see some direct comparisons between this camera and the Hero 4 Black. Especially Cam Raw / flat modes.

@MN - Yeah Phantom is nice but there are still things the Inspire does that the Phantom can't. Dual operators, a 360 degree panning gimbal, sensors for stable flight super low to the ground. I just flew mine chasing someone and it maintained hover very low the whole time. It was too dark to test camera tonight but I will fly tomorrow.

It's cool, but not competitive. You can get a quad with better video quality (GoPro4/Lightbridge) for about $800-$900 less --so I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Looking forward to a very serious, critical review of this product, especially the camera. get deep with it, Emm!

Cool, can't wait to see some of your arial footage.

One of my friend who works Ambarella which supplies sensor chips to Go Pro told me that Go Pro is now working on a Drone, and should come out sometime soon, not sure when but the design and feature are really awesome. Competition is always great. Thanks Emm for posting this..

  6. Just my two cents:

-Based on the footage i think that the Inspire1 offers the same image quality as the Gopro4.

-The lens of the inspire1 is a 20mm (FF35 equivalent)2.8 and offers a more natural field of view than the gopro4 fisheye lens.

yes, if they can sell this for the go pro at $2500 I'm so in. as it stands, prob stick to the phantom 2.

I want to like this product so much, but it's way too wiggly as seen in haampie1985 video(especially at 2:31, but he was lifting the copter's arms) Also in the Multicopter Warehouse video, there is some video stuttering going on as the camera pans to the right. Its three axis gimbal doesn't seem too effective, but hopefully some in-software stabilization will fix any operator error and shakiness that comes from the product. It'll never replace a real helicopter, but they are much cheaper option and they are fun to play with. With lots of practice, and even more takes, we'll all be able get good shots. Emphasis on lots of takes!

  9. still a marked difference in visual quality between the hero4 and the inspire's own camera unfortunately. really exciting tech though and there hopefully will be a model allowing other cameras.
