27Apr DIY JIb Follow Ups
A few people have tackled the DIY Jib project (seen here), so here’s a few follow up videos. First up is YouTube member TrinityFXmg showing the post build examples. He has another video showing the build process (here).
Another video comes from Vimeo member Ben Gordon who shows some sample footage of the completed DIY jib in use. I notice he’s not using counterweights to balance the crane which would help make it smoother, but he’s still getting great results.
Originally intended for use with just small cameras, you can see how others are using it with larger DSLRs and even the Sony VG20. For the complete build instructions, you can also check out the instructions at Oliviatech.com (click here).

I build the jib today, it’s still in alpha as it needs some refinement.
Has anyone made a jib out of Zinc Plated 1-1/4 in. x 48 in. Punched Angle?

I think I might try that this week. The aluminum tubing was expensive and a few of my measurements on the drilling were off(my fault) but with the punched it would be a breeze.
