20Jan CarrySpeed Camera Straps New Adapter Plate
Another PMA video interview at CES 2012. Tim from CarrySpeed camera straps shows a new quick release ball adapter + heavy duty plate that leaves room for a tripod quick release plate. The quick release ball adapter design with plate allows the free movement without scratching the camera or lens. The prototype plate shown towards the end is a fold flat design so the ball adapter does not need to be removed for the camera to sit flat.

Looks very nice. The price is good as well.

Yes, you can install any kind of quick release plate include Manfrotto ones under the mounting plate for quick access to your tripod.

I’m actually really interested in picking of of these up. I’ve been an R-Strap guy for quite a while now. I think it is a brilliant strap, but the way in monopolizes your tripod mount has been really inconvenient as I’ve moved towards video. This is an attractive solution to that problem.

These guys are awesome! I just wish they would have kept the Swivi at the lower price end of around $250 $275

There you go! – Quality! I was toying with the idea of getting a custom SLR number – but this seems to be a better thought out design – especially the hip hugging nature of the tripod plate and ball head. I’m buying as soon as the next paycheck lands. Not just for a cool product with a heap of little gadget accessories (we love gadgets!) – but because Tim totally sold me on the idea – Great little vid – Wish you all the best Tim!! – I’ll be happy to join in on the fun. I checked on Amazon.com and the Carry Speed Website and and it looks like the tripod plate is fixed and not like the “foldable” design that was featured in the video?? Waddup with that? – The description on Amazon does mention something about ‘The new prototype design will have a fold flat feature” – so maybe the images aren’t as up to date as the product being sold?? – Any help on that Tim? (You there Tim?)

@Eyan – Protoype means it’s still being worked on. It’s not available yet.

Thanks for all your support, I am finalizing the foldable mounting plate design, I will launch the new plate in early March. I re-designed the layout of tripod mounts on mounting plate, and add a 3/8″ thread option to it. On the shoulder pad, I add some more useful features.
As always, I put lots of thoughts into this design, and try to make it perfect same time affordable to all.
Again, I appreciate all your support….there you go~

Anybody ever have any problems carrying their camera by the tripod socket only? I’ve always wondered if a 5D with battery grip and flash would be too much for that single point of contact. I’ve heard that Canon doesn’t recommend it but I’ve not heard of any failures.

Great strap. I just got one on eBay for $29.00 with free shipping. I love not having to take off the ring to put my tripod plate on. So easy! And I sold my Black Rapid to a buddy for $50.00 so made some money to put back into my wallet
