A Quick Release Shoulder Strap

If you're like me, I have no straps mounted on my camera. Not always ideal, so here's something a friend showed me. This is a Calumet Aircell Neoprene quick strap. Not only comfortable, flexible, and padded, but it allows you to quickly remove the strap when it's not needed. A good thing for people who want to use Shoulder Rigs, Sliders, Cranes, Steadicam / Glidecam stuff since it can easily throw off the balance. Or people who move from doing Photography to Video. Can be found via Calumet's website (here).

I was in the NYC Calumet store today and saw these. They seem pretty decent for the price.

I have 2 Tamrac straps with the same type quick connectors: One on my rig and one on the camera itself. I just swap the strap back and forth and leave the connectors attached.

Cheap insurance against dropping your cherished gear and easy to remove when it's in the way.

BTW, I bought a Calumet quick plate and receiver which is almost an exact copy of the Manfrotto. Works great. Found out about it here. :) Search site if interested.

  2. For years, I've been using Domke Gripper camera straps. They have quick disconnect snaps and come in a variety of widths and colors. They also have rubber on one side to keep your camera (or other gear) from sliding off your shoulder.
